CAPS Rating:
***

Exchange Traded Funds

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

I caught this falling knife a little too early, but the engine of China's economy continues to run on almost full cylinders, and I think FXI will get back into shape as soon as ore investors set aside the ridiculous expectation that China will share in the U.S. economy's fate. De-coupling has arriv...More

Reloading here. I sort of question whether the FXI will unerperform the S&P 500, but I know very well that there are 500 good ways to invest in China and this isn't one of them.

Too many people confuse the FXI with a way to invest in Chinese growth. It isn't. FXI was set up...More

the steep dropoff in the Shanghai composite is a welcome relief for fundamental investors who understand what real value is. Now that the boom is over, people can go back into investing for the long term in China with confidence despite the volatility in the interim.

LT play on top ten China stocks. They are down now but will be up in a year or two.

FXI has pulled back more than 50% from its all time highs. That correction was warranted, as China was the wild west of speculating. But underneath the hood, lets look at the fundamentals. Net surplus of cash 1.4 Trillion. Early in the infrastructure buildout. Population 1.3B plus. Although the economy has 'slowed' due to reduced exports, the Chinese are looking to put their savings to work, and the consumer society is very early in the demographic cycle. Nobody wants China now, and that's when you buy. FXI on a technical basis could hit 35, and if so, I will buy more in the form of deep ITM calls 2010. They are pure industrius capitalists by culture and nature, value education as a culture, and complete projects is a fraction of the time that we can. No debt burden to impair stimulus spending. Other risks do include a lack of transparency in accountning standards compared to us, but those things will improve. Betting on China over the next 10-20 years is one of the best ways to grow your wealth. You must have exposure here. This is the future.
