Citigroup, Inc. (C)

CAPS Rating:
**

A diversified global financial services holding company whose businesses provide a range of financial services to consumer and corporate customers.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

So, what's your point? Citi is not Bear Stearns. Citi is a diversified financial giant, not an under-capitalized investment bank. Citi makes money year-round on all of its financial service products. While it has written down nearly 30 Billion in assets, these assets are not worthless. Additionally,...More

Since the government decided to step in to help the "good" banks it likes and let all the other "bad" banks to fail. You should pick up this "good bank" because the fed will keep giving it "sweetheart deals" like the Wachovia deal...The fed would never allow Citibank to go under, then who would it offer these great sweetheart deals to? Those SOB's from WFC don't realize how much money it costs to bribe the guys from the Fed to setup the Wachovia deal... I mean Citibank paid those guys fair and square, now you wanna jump in and steal this from us... not so fast my friend.

Doesnt matter if Citi gets Wachovia or not. This stock is seriously on sale. I am willing to bet it will return to its 52 week high in the next year or two.
