Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (WMT)

My most certain pick of the year. There are so many reasons as to why this stock will not outperform the market.

1) Already had its prime, as the recession fades away, investors should veer away from stocks like this.

2) Management is horrible at all levels. I know from experience. They hire the wrong type of people for the industry they are in.

3) Low-grade employees. This will catch up to them sooner or later. About 2% of their employees make a respectable salary.

4) Theft/Shoplifting: The local Walmart lost 3.6 million last quarter due to theft and shoplifting. A self-service, 24hr, supercenter in a crime-riddled city? How can you expect different?

5) Are making a transition towards a cleaner, spacier, and smaller storefront. This is not necessarily a problem, but this is not how walmart became one of the best companies in the world. They would regularly fill the store with as much as they can take, charge the lowest they can, and put the best brands and products on the shelf, and try to make the customer spend as much as possible before they walk out. I don't know what changed but they changed they're philosophy in my region three weeks ago. Other regions will soon follow. Sales for leading brands WILL decrease because of this.

6) TARGET! They;re an excellent company and are HUNTING for Walmart's economic position.

7) Other competitors (BJs, BigLots, SamsClub)

8) Bad relationship with leading vendors (Nabisco, Campbell, Keebler, Pepsi)

9) The stock has simply too much daily volume.

10) Walmart brands are disgusting. Did you ever try their fish or fruit?

Walmart will remain one of the leading companies in the US due to its brand, but I would stay far away when it comes to investing in its stock. They won't be going out of business anytime soon but they're steering away from the ideology that made them who they are today.
