Vestas Wind Systems ADR (VWDRY.PK)

CAPS Rating:
****

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Vestas rules wind energy and will build a manufacturing base here in US. I pass wind farms with Vestas plastered on the side of the turbine on my way to Minneapolis and expect to see a lot of them farms being built in SD. Vestas and FPL are working together. SD is like the Saudi Arabia of Wind an...More

Wind is a key piece of the world's energy puzzle. As manufacturing becomes more efficient and battery technology improves the feasibility of large wind projects in optimum locations will increase.

I love Vestas and we established a position in February, late after a significant run up on the stock. Since then it's been trending flat- to paper- loss.

We will continue to invest in it, since they are the undisputed leader.

I downthumb because the infrastructure spending in NA has been significantly delayed. Green energy still has not attained the all-important grid-parity with other forms of dinosaur fuels. Additionally, too much attention is being paid to natural gas for alt energy to pick up the slack. (Natural gas is touted in the States as the 'home grown' green fuel, on account of its emissions profile when compared to coal and oil.)

Finally, Vestas and many green energies depend upon subsidies. We have already seen that these are drying up in progressive markets such as Europe's, and we haven't seen the anticipated spike here in the States.

Buy the stock by all means (we will) but be prepared for a long sit out on the benches.
