New VIASAT1 provides more bandwidth in orbit than all the rest of the satellites servicing north america combined. They're going to be able to tap into the frustrated rural broadband market better than any of their competitors by a wide margin.

Viasat owns Wildblue communications since 2009. It was recently announced that Wildblue is rolling out true high speed internet via satellite in the coming months. Though there will still be data caps for obvious reasons, this is a HUGE move and will tap into an equally huge market. Rural Americans who have never had the luxury of high speed will now have access to it. This could be quite groundbreaking.
