Unbelievably expensive at 60x free cash flow, 28x EBITDA. Revenues also at risk because they don't naturally recur, vulnerable to spending slowdowns.

FIrst, I've been aware of Trimble's positioning and wireless products and their product quality for a decade, but only recently started actively investing. I stumbled on TRMB while researching trends in constructing technologies (Building Information Modeling, or BIM), and found that TRMB actively takes their technologies and creates market niches for their product(s) within those industries. It's not true vertical integration, but more like a mesh where the market niches all converge on their core technologies. Horizontal integration, I guess. TRMB is more than just hardware. Their Meridian software company develops some of the industry's leading software products for construction project management. The software provides the link from hardware to customer value in the application. TRMB's ability to create a market niche which their products fill is exceptional, and I believe it will continue to outperform for quite some time.
