At this point with $5 range, this amazing stock has clearly at bottom. Even if prices of wafer modules go less, margins go less, SOL will be there as long as other big players are in market, and SOL will keep providing them with great quality parts… More

Solar just will not cut it in the long term, not cost effective, and government can't help it forever.

Current investors are scared that Europe will cut back incentive programs for solar energy due to the debt crisis. Demand for solar energy will fall in the short term.

However, in the longer term, energy prices from traditional sources will undoubtedly rise due to the increasing energy demand from developing nations. The country that will drive a large part of that increase in energy demand will be China. As demand for energy continues to ramp up in China, sources of earnings will begin to shift from foreign demand to domestic demand and whatever happens in Europe or the rest of the world, will play a lesser role in the price of Chinese solar stocks.

Fear in the market overlooks this longer-term dynamic. China has a tremendous interest in developing sources of cheap energy since the future of their domestic energy demand is huge. As a result, they will continue to support their alternative energy sector. Within this sector, SOL is one of the most undervalued among Chinese solar stocks. Unprecedented fear in the markets today presents a once-in-a-lifetime buying opportunity.

All solar stocks are being punished for Solyndra, Fisker, etc. loans. Solar panels and phase inverters are here to stay. Of course there will be a shake out--and those with real technological advantages will survive or be acquired. SOL is cheap and has a cool or unfortunate ticker symbol depending on how you look at it.
