Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ:SOFO)

IMHO this PPS offers an excellent entry point. While short term, I took a huge paper loss, I reevaluated the investment thesis and decided to hold and buy more. SOFO declined because the company had forecast the breakeven point is "any time now" for the past year or so and missed badly during the last quarter. The reason provided was the longer sales development and delivery cycle brought about by much bigger deals. They've expanded their sales and tech staff in anticipation of these larger deals but did not manage investor expectations well at all. Investors were expecting very close to break even results and those results didn't materialize, rather, a loss of .10 per share virtually doubled last year's QOQ losses. Mediasite is the flagship product and incorporates patented searchable audio for rich media presentations. The company also provides hosting and service and these areas have been expanding as revenue streams in addition to the hardware. It is a small cap that really did not manage expectations well at all so expect some significant volatility. Disclosure: Long about 11.4k shares
