Philip Morris International (PM)

CAPS Rating:
*****

The company manufactures and sells cigarettes and other tobacco products in markets outside of the United States.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Health Nazis be damned, these omnipotent moral busybodies are trumped by the golden rule. He who has the gold makes the rules and the Governments worldwide have a bigger piece of the profits from tobacco sales than the tobacco companies do. Don't be fooled by those jerks to stupid to know that if ...More

Agriculture is shifting towards corn for ethanol, not only raising food prices but putting a pinch in other kinds of growers. I think tobacco will be hit with fewer growers and lower supplies, causing higher expenses for PM as well as higher prices for consumers.

Strong dividend payout is almost guaranteed versus strong uncertainty in the rest of the market.

The best cigarette brand in the world's international operation has a lot of room to grow. With my projection for 13.5% free cash flow net margin in the next 3 years, 10% growth and a 5% dividend yield, this looks like a high return relative to the market.
