PepsiCo, Inc. (PEP)

CAPS Rating:
*****

A global snack and beverage company. The Company manufactures, markets and sells a variety of salty, convenient, sweet and grain-based snacks, carbonated and non-carbonated beverages and foods.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Standard & Poor's rating has fallen to three stars, but it's still a safe dividend stock with the dividend well covered and averages annual dividend increase of 12-15% although they only raised it about 6% this year. Also, I'm a Diet Mountain Dew addict. Having the additional snack food and cereal...More

Great product, I like Diet Pepsi vs Diet Coke myself. As good as mgmt is they slipped up lately and are a target of AFA and a boycott of the products based on Pepsi giving big $$ and support to the Gay community. AFA usually wins and sales usually drop at companies they target. If PEP follows the tr...More

3% dividend means it can lag the indexes some and still outperform in terms of actual return on investment. It's not all about capital appreciation people. This company is also more diversified than Coke yet trades at a lower multiple.

Has never had a P/E lower than 15 over the past 10 years. Based on the $4.11 estimated EPS for next year, this is looking at a Forward EPS of right at 15. If history tells us anything, we can look for $80 in a year if they meet expectations. (Not to mention the nominal dividend)
