Paychex, Inc. (PAYX)

CAPS Rating:
****

The Company is a provider of payroll, human resource, and employee benefits outsourcing solutions for small- to medium-sized businesses.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

I own a small business and use PAYX as a provider. They are doing all the right things during this recession, investing in their current customer base, going the extra mile to retain existing business, expanding offerings and asking for referrals to others who would benefit. I'll admit I've not lo...More

This Company is edging up toward its 52 week high and
could probably underperform. However, there is a definite
trend toward outsourcing human resources in the business world. Small business will lead the way out of the present recession and should create an excellent climate for Paychex. The div...More

The stock price is reasonable. The current dividend yield is about 2.9% and the dividend is covered though (about 90% of earnings at present). With an upturn in the economy the company's customer base, mostly small firms, should have better business prospects and hopefully that will translate into hiring which in turn will generate more revenue for Paychex.
