Gotta love companies for which relatives perform (upper) administrative duties...PeopleSoft, JDEdwards, now - Oracle...I got the inside scoop on every takeover too (only to the extent allowable by law mind you ;;) --- also...Oracle powers a lot of the DOD admin software infrastructure

Ever wondered what one of the top five most secure jobs in any market economy are, just imagine the businesses that need support when PeopleS becomes JDEd becomes Oracle - and the software running your company is all of a sudden unsupported by a non-Oracle company that ceases to exist and you are forced to use Oracle if you want to maintain your existing IT configurations, or cease operations requiring the use of information technology :>>

See, Oracle is smart like that - made everyone running prior company software migrate to Oracle products, and the prior companies at this point were then (not a coinicidence) gone/unsupported. Call it the Phase 2 strategy after the clever precedent set by Mr B Gates and Microsoft (Phase 1). Software companies gotta really integrate their products into every need imaginable to make it in the industry, and it's only becoming more crucial as we move forward in the new 'digital/computing' age. Why? Cloud computing...sounds so new age, but its really just applications you run from the internet rather than your hard drive (oversimplified for a reason).

I know you have all heard of 'Cloud Computing', right??, next big tech boom coming, salesforce, amazon, google, yahoo, on and on...but trust me here, only the fittest will survive this Phase 3 as I call it. Unfortunately, we'll all likely be using it one day like it or not, starting with business essential apps...Still too many issues with reliability, reliability, privacy, reliability, speed, reliability, reliability of your internet connection amongst numerous more issues concerning the financial implications for businesses using 'cloud apps' (just wait for the lawsuits once 'cloud' apps are the standard and businesses migrate to their use when its the only option left for compatibility/availability/financial/ONLY OPTION reasons AND once the big fish acquire or put out of business the smaller ones, kinda like us with banks in the US right now).

Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, ORACLE, Amazon, Salesforce...I think in ten years there will only be about 10 software companies in existance..Office 2010 is gonna be released for free if I read correctly, yes, FREE...and check this out -

"Another worry is that the online services will cut out the middleman and lead to conflict with Microsoft's partners - and Microsoft makes more than 95% of its revenues via more than 640,000 partners. While the most obvious ones are PC manufacturers, many more are employed in building applications for Microsoft products, and selling, installing, customising, managing and supporting them."

It's not a coincidence that Microsoft made its Office 2010 announcements at its Worldwide Partner Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Monday - it needs to keep these partners happy.

OK, so if MSFT is out 95% revenue and making Office free, but still planning to increase revenue, well, whatever, we shall see...all I know is ORACLE is much better than ACCESS for database functionality, databases are the foundation of ALL business (personal/commercial/governmental) computing solutions, ORACLE is well practiced in the art of hostile takeovers to replace and erase competitors software and generate new ORACLE customers, and ORACLE is all about the cloud computing too, that's 4 for 4...thumbs up!
