Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPTT)

This company makes buoys which use wave action to produce electric power. The buoys are of 2 types: One type is connected to shore with a cable that feeds energy into the grid. The other type is autonomous and can be used by isolated offshore sites such as offshore oil platforms in place of onboard generators.
The CEO states that the overall cost is competitive with that of offshore wind turbines. The environmental footprint is relatively small.

This pick will probably not garner me any CAPS points for a long time, if ever. Still, the technology works and the company could be a big winner eventually.

With the multiple countries that are trying to back this company and with working with Lockheed, this company should grow and eventually become a big company. I forsee Japan spending a couple billion dollars on OPTT's equipment, thus giving them a valuable and safe way to get the energy that is needed, without taking up more land space, without hurting their fishing markets, and giving their people clean, safe energy without having to worry about storms, tsunamis, etc. distroying or prohibiting them from receiving optimum electricity and or energy.
