Melco Crown Entertainment (MPEL)

****

The Company develops, owns, and operates casino gaming and entertainment resort facilities.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Wow $2 and some change for a Macau casino operator. I'm loving it!!! True, it sounds bad right now that Vegas foot traffic has decrease greatly and Casino in Vegas is hurting badly. However, in Macau I believe will be better than ever in a couple years. First, China population is a lot larger th...More

great family history in the business, love the location and the service for the culture... good buy long term, but if you want to maximize your money wait a bit... yesterday's financials were underwhelming and the casino not being ready to service their high end customers will mean pps drop for a co...More

Looks like an experienced crew setting up for when the economy booms! Chinese will come to gamble in droves.

MPEL has one single plus going for it; Chinese owned !! For this reason alone, Chinese day trippers will gamble at the City Of Dreams. (The other MPEL owned property in Macau is not worth a comment).
What is sorely needed at MPEL is the ouster of Lawrence Ho, Stanley's 31 year old very untalented son. Since MPLEL's last quarter was dreadful coming in with a widened loss, we assume there will be managemnt changes for the better.
Macau is on schedule to deliver a 60% increase in September gaming revenues. This is after a record breaking August.
WYNN is best in breed. By all accounts recently WYNN is second busiest to the LV Sands and Venetian hotels.. In fourth pace comes MPEL securing approximately 17% of day trippers.
It seems for now that the parabolic moves in gaming stocks is easing off in lieu of 3rd quarter earnings season. All things being equal, MPEL should see $10.
This assumes you believe in the Macau story .

China is under-rated when it comes to Capitalism. With Capitalism comes success ... then money ... then blowing some (or all) of it just for kicks.
