The CEO is a moron. He doesn't even buy his clothing from his own company. He is doing what Penney's did in the 90's and failed. He is trying to bring high end clothing and accessories that are not his customer. He is also losing manager to JCPenney's in the Chicago. He is argant with his manag...More

Kohl's had a great earnings report and increased its guidance for 2010. It is agressive in a time when most are shy. It has signed up record number of people into its store credit card which brings loyalty and more $$. It's also seeing an increase on its e-business. Inventory levels have come down and its own brands are doing better than expected. A slim company with excellent margin plus increasing market share; I think is a buy.

Kohl's has made a decent profit while expanding their business when most companies are just making ends meet!

I think this stock is about equal in quality to JCPenney. However, I think in a recovery market, the weaker of the two will rise more. JCP trades at a lower book value than KSS, but KSS has higher ROE levels than JCP. KSS has risen more, but it also has a lower PE multiple. I like the Sephora brand and that makes me lean more towards JCP than KSS, but this was a tough call.

The upper management is really bad at Kohl's - in September they ousted their MVC Card holders and took away loyalty free shipping. The WSJ covered the story 10/21. Kohl's Facebook fans are saying they are jumping ship and going to other retailers.
