Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP (KMP)

CAPS Rating:
****

A publicly-traded pipeline limited partnerships company is an owner and operator of the independent refined petroleum products pipeline system in the United States.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Dividend may appear attractive but is unsustainable at 270+ payout ratio. When the dividend gets cut, the multiple will fall as well causing this stock to fall out of favor.

Low cash position, increasing debt, and trading at significant premium to its industry (30+ for KMP versus ~20 for industry) ...More

It's an MLP servicing energy, strong infrastructure in place and established business. Over the course of time the dividend makes this a winner.

With this yield, this is better than bonds. Use of what goes threw the pipes is going to happen independent of price. Maybe people will recognize soon.

A pipeline that runs oil and nat gas. Can't beat that with a stick. Oil consuption is down right now and nat gas hasn't reach anything close to it's potential. This is a buy and hold, I think Mr Buffett should be in this one, lol.
