Kinross Gold Corporation (Kinross) is engaged in the mining and processing of gold and as a by-product, silver ore, and the exploration for, and the acquisition of, gold bearing properties in the Americas, the Russian Federation and worldwide. The principal products of Kinross are gold and silver produced in the form of dore that is shipped to refineries for final processing. Kinross’ share of proven and probable mineral reserves, as of December 31, 2008, was 45.6 million ounces of gold and 105.8 million ounces of silver. On July 31, 2008, Kinross completed the sale of its 40% interest in the Hammond Reef project to Brett Resources Inc. On September 30, 2008, it acquired Aurelian Resources Inc. On December 16, 2008, Kinross completed the acquisition of a 40% interest in Minera Santa Rose SCM (Minera) from certain subsidiaries of Anglo American Plc, and on January 8, 2009, Kinross acquired the remaining 60% interest in Minera from a subsidiary of Teck Cominco Limited.

It's always risky have a stake in Russia, but if the gold sell off is short lived, the bounce back up may be quick enough to gain significant profits within a year, making the long-term exposure to Russia small.

Gold, Silver, and Copper ... as in Cerro Casale, Chile WOW!!!!

Kinross acquired its 49% interest in the Cerro Casale gold-copper deposit in northern Chile on February 28, 2007, through its acquisition of Bema Gold. Barrick Gold held the remaining 51% interest. As a result of a new shareholders agreement entered into with Barrick and an associated reorganization of the corporate ownership in September 2009, each of Kinross and Barrick now have a 50% interest.

Discovered in 1996, Cerro Casale is located 145 kilometres southeast of Copiapó, and is directly south of Kinross' Maricunga mine.

The Cerro Casale deposit is a large gold and copper orebody with reserves (100%) of approximately 21 million ounces of gold and 5 billion pounds of copper. It is reputedly one of the largest undeveloped gold/copper deposits in the world.

21 mil oz x $1192 = $25,032,000,000 ($25 Billion) in the ground ... WOW !!!!

KGC bottomed at $6 a share in early 2009 and is up over 300% since. It does rest from time to time but is uniquely position to benefit from the continuing gold bull market.which is 9 years running
