This one's a dropper. Numerous manager changes, low sales, unproductive downtroden share holder calls, 15% drop in stock over last year, dog.

Who can manage this mess? Multiple industries. Multiple spin-offs. Subsidiaries of subsidiaries. Legal procedings out the wazoo. The only thing that remotely interests me is the Israeli oil thingy but I'll wait for a better play in that industry.

The underlying businesses are worth at least $28 per share, assuming zero value for businesses that are not currently profitable. I'll keep close watch on its spinoff of Genie Energy later this year as the spinoff is likely to be under severe selling pressure. I'll buy the spinoff if it drops below $5 a share. At that price, you pay for the cash it has on its book and get the energy retail business ($1.2 per share in EBITDA) and call options on its shale oil business (currently nonproducing) for free.
