GameStop Corp. (GME)

CAPS Rating:
***

The Company is a retailer of video game products and PC entertainment software.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Video game store sales will be up this fall. There are plenty of good games coming out.

When asked if he was saying the consoles could become sinking ships, Moore reiterated his statement.

"I'd say the core business model of video games is a burning platform. Absolutely. We all recognize that, and we'll recognize it 10 years from now when we tell our grand kids," he said. "We'll tell them we used to drive to the store to get shiny discs that have bits and bites on them and we'd place them in this thing called a 'disc tray,' and it'd whirl around…and they'll go 'What?'"

"So, the concept of physical packaged discs and the core business model that is video games as it currently stands is a burning platform."

GME is here to stay. This is one of the only sectors that Wal-Mart cannot sell for cheaper, and thats why I like it. Halo 3 just released. Modern Warfare and Assassins Creed 2 will boost next quarter sales. Parents will do what makes their kids happy. Gamestop makes kids happy

Recession or no recession gaming trudges on. The price cuts on consoles should help the holiday season as families are more willing to open their wallets this year.

I just realized I haven't green thumbed GME (which I own). So I'm taking the downgrade opportunity to make some mad CAPS play.

My local GME is fantastic. Hourly employees have gone out of way to make my kids regulars. As online delivery of new games still awaits popularity/technology/acceptance, this will be the key gamer paradise. 4000+ locations (three close to my house) & busy.

Disclosure: just pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 at GME (long on both) and convinced kids to trade in all those nutty Pokemon games.
