iShares MSCI EMU Index (ETF) (EZU)

CAPS Rating:
**

Exchange Traded Funds

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Simple EMU (European Monetary Union) index play here. Take the Global or stick with U.S. only. It's an easy choice in diversifying your portfolio. It should perform well as U.S. growth slows. Not a real big CAPS gainer, but it is a solid pick.

EZU - iShares MSCI EMU Index Fund - This fund tracks the price and performance of companies part of the European Monetary Union. This is a play on the appreciation of the EURO versus the US Dollar. Look for the european markets to outperform the S&P500 in the next few years.... - JB

It’s been hard to go mistaken investing abroad, as mutual and exchange-traded funds that hold foreign stocks, have time and again outperformed their domestic counterparts. For 2007 also, the scenario looks positive, but given the vagueness about U.S. interest rates, it will be wiser for a prudent investor, to move some funds out of US and volatile emerging markets into Europe, which envisages an improved operating environment.

Endorsing the same, iShares MSCI EMU Index (EZU) lays out a perfect platform for the investors. EZU is a passive fund that simply attempts to match the performance of the MSCI EMU Index and is designed to track the stocks in member nations of the European Monetary Union. It includes companies based in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain, but excludes the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and others. With a heavy exposure in banks, utilities and telecom sector, the funds seems to be a good investment proposition, as is well diversified geographically as well as industry-wise.

Lately, Europe's economic growth has surpassed expectations with GDP growth in the euro area and the EU accelerated to an annualized rate of 3

Ok, international picks, time to take a breather and come back to earth. Complacency is a dangerous thing.
