Exelon Corp (EXC)

CAPS Rating:
****

The Company is a utility services holding company. It operates through subsidiaries in the following operating segments- Generation, ComEd and PECO.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

The percentage of MWh generated through nuclear is impressive. Less impressive is the fact that their owned Northern Illinois distributor, Commonwealth Edison, has become a major political football with more rate freezes pending.

A P/E of nearly 28 is outrageous no matter...More

Utilities slightly out of favor now, good dividend. When energy prices increase their cost won't increase a smuch as other utilities because of percent % nuclear.

Price is approaching 5-year lows; low P/E compared to electric utility sector. Strong dividend yield and steady dividend growth.

Defensive play. Blue chip utility yielding >4.5% and trading at less than 50% of its two year high. Heavy reliance on nuclear power generation is a plus with oil prices likely to trend higher over the next few years.
