Oil and gas may be deep in to it right now, but long term as the world economy pulls itself up by it's bootstrapes, oil will make a comeback. Alt energy is wonderful, but it will take many years for it to make a significant dent in the use of oil. The days of easy extraction of oil are gone and some...More

Nicely hedged with a decent balance sheet and a good buying opportunity on the recent pullback

Having split off the oil side of the business ECA is now a pure natural gas play. I don't have anything against the oil business, but gas has more growth in its future. Their are other attractive plays in the sector, but this one stands out for its current valuation and dividend.

Betting on natural gas. Relatively clean, American energy, with new applications (e.g., LNG vehicles) coming online. ECA has good fundamentals and a nice dividend.

Let me begin, I got this idea from Cramer. I know I'm embarrassed, but sometimes I watch.

Huge proven reserves. Huge. Low cost of Production, just above $2 per MCFE, trades near book value, tons of cash. Healthy 2% dividend.

It just split it's business and may take some time to sort through, but really an interesting idea. Perhaps a better idea than my UNG pick which with every day passes the profits just trickle out.

Commodity ETFS that rollover future contracts need to be discounted for time value of money....In other words they need to materialize quickly.
