Apple, Inc. (AAPL)

CAPS Rating:
***

The Company designs, manufactures and markets personal computers and related software, services, peripherals, and networking solutions.

Rating a stock in CAPS consists of three components:

Your call - Will this stock outperform or underperform the S&P 500? Successful picks are measured in terms of whether or not you were correct and by how many percentage points.

Your time frame - A guideline for other members to see whether your thinking is short or long-term. Time frame is also used to calculate the stock rating, but is not used in the scoring of your pick.

Your pitch - Here's your chance to offer more detailed thoughts, analysis, concerns, or the rationale behind your call. The pitch is optional and may be added later.

Each time you rate a stock, CAPS updates the community intelligence for the company, which may or may not change its CAPS rating. For more information, visit the Help tab at the top of the page.

Fortunately I bought this stock when Jobs was Ill and irrational pessimism about this company's future crushed its stock price. With the iPhone dominating here, soon to be in China, the iPod, iTouch, new Macs, and iToons this company looks to be on the verge of having a MS type of stock splits ever...More

Apple (AAPL) is a wonderful company, highly focused, and capable of envisioning and producing wonderful products. All of that is already factored, as far as I can tell, into the stock price.

Apple is currently valuated at around $160Bn, making it one of the largest corporations in the world. Its ...More

This met a high level screen to indicate a sell and strong underperform against its peers (other tickers in its industry). My 1st version of this spreadsheet devles deep into the company's balance sheet and recent income statements, combined with other relevant price data for the company including insider/institutional holdings, short interest, debt levels, etc.
I'm testing capabilities of this 1st version of my automated, valuation spreadsheet matched with my personal criteria and see how it holds up.

Steve Jobs does not care about Apple's shareholders or his employees and is not good for the company. Although I will be buying back in May (A month before the next IPhone).

An object in motion stays in motion.
The stock price has had a relatively straight line increase since March. There is no news to suggest that this will change. The devalued US dollar will make exports to Asia even easier.
Buying in on the recent price pull back.

Beyond a year, who knows but for the next year this company appears to be doing everything right. It may not pay a dividend, but if the stock price keeps going up 100% per year, then all you need is someone willing to buy this stock later this year, after a 20%, 30% or what ever profit you think you need before moving on to something else.

Apple CEO doesn't care about the shareholders. It doesn't pay a dividend so there is nothing to entice a shareholder to buy. It will continue to profit greatly, but I can think of several other stocks that I would rather own as an individual shareholder.

That is, until there is a new No. 1 stock!
